Sports Grant
Government PE & Sport Funding
The government has provided additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
Sports Grant
This year, Puriton Primary has been allocated a Sports Grant of approximately £18000. This funding has to be spent effectively and to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
The PE and sport premium is used to secure improvements in the following 5 key indicators:
- Key indicator 1: Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
- Key indicator 2: Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
- Key indicator 3:The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
- Key indicator 4: Broader experience of a range of sports and physical activities offered to all pupils
- Key indicator 5: Increased participation in competitive sport
