Puriton Primary School

Puriton Primary School

Our School

Puriton Primary School is situated in spacious and attractive grounds in the village of Puriton, just 3 miles north of Bridgwater.   We have an extensive outdoor area, play apparatus, a small allotment garden, woodland pond and nature areas, a willow story circle, an outdoor classroom shelter, as well as a large school playground for days when it is too wet to be on the field. In addition to playtimes, the grounds are used to enrich learning, with lessons being undertaken outside the classroom.

The school has approximately 200 pupils aged between four and 11 years old with one class in each year group. Most children come from Puriton but over recent years, we have been pleased to welcome an increasing number from the surrounding area too.

The quality of teaching is a strength of our school along with the wonderful behaviour and caring nature of the children. Our dedicated and friendly staff quickly get to know each child as an individual; we have the highest expectations of every child and with the support of parents, are able to address different learning needs so they can each enjoy and achieve their potential.

Our staff work as a great team, sharing a genuine commitment to children’s well-being, as well as bringing their own mix of skills and experiences to enrich learning opportunities.

You are welcome to arrange a visit to see us all in action.

You can also join some of our Year 6 pupils as they give a tour of the school, including a visit to Ash Class - the reception class for our youngest children.
